Animal-scapes, or ‘animalscapes’ are simply animal scene photos and this boutique gallery has arisen from my passion for the wide spaces of Africa and the spirit of freedom that they embody. This is a collection of wildlife landscape photography depicting animals in their environment.
I have purposefully taken a step back to capture the animal in its environment, spending months and even years, waiting for that decisive moment to assemble this wildlife landscape photography gallery. As such, all prints in the Animal-scapes collection illustrate not only Africa’s creatures carrying out a wild existence but more importantly, they illustrate the environment in which these wild animals live. As such, the best term to describe this wildlife landscape photography or animal scene photos is to call it animal-scape photography. The prints themselves are affectionately known as ‘animalscapes’.
To assemble this animal in its environment gallery, I have journeyed to Africa’s most iconic regions and to more remote wildernesses. Taking you on a spellbinding journey of ‘animal in its environment’ photography, each Animal-scape print aims to connect you with the wild freedom that has drawn explorers and adventures to Africa’s shores for centuries, and each serves as a poignant reminder that the wild allure of Africa has not yet vanished. Enjoy exploring this gallery of animalscapes. Read more about GDT Fine Art Wildlife Prints and see a news article.
Cheetah Plain - On the great plains of East Africa a cheetah scans for prey (Masai Mara, Kenya).
Forest Rhino - A critically endangered black rhino moves through a Fever Tree forest in near silence (secret location in Kenya).
A Misty Morning - On an especially beautiful and misty morning, in Zambia's Kafue National Park, a lechwe pauses to stare at me. The sublime light of dawn, combined with the rising steam, made me feel like I wanted to be nowhere else on earth.
Elephants and Egrets - A herd of elephant cross the savannah at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro in Kenya. As always, egrets are in close attendance, hawking insects disturbed by the elephants.
Serengeti Elephant - An elephant on the great plains of East Africa lifts its trunk to smell the rain, carried on the winds of an approaching storm at sunset (Serengeti National Park, Tanzania).
Forest Elephant - My safari to the Congo Basin was all about getting this one frame of a forest elephant in the wild tropical jungle.
Serengeti Migration - Here you see the great migration as it passes through the Acacia woodlands found in the southern reaches of Tanzania's Serengeti ecosystem.
Giraffe Journey - A journey of giraffe cross the dry lakebed of Amboseli in Kenya. To get this photo I stood on top of the roof of my car. In the background you can just make out the base of Mount Kilimanjaro.
